German automaker, Volkswagen has launched its most-awaited compact sedan in India under “Make in India” and “Made for India” program. The pricing starts at Rs. 5.14 lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai). It is the first 4 metre sedan of the company in India.
According to Michael Mayer (Director of Vlokswagen Passenger Cars India),
“Today is a very special day for Volkswagen in India, as we introduce our first ever made-for-India carline, Volkswagen Ameo. The Ameo underlines our philosophy of offering the best of technology and safety standards packaged at an attractive price. Through the Ameo, we are confident of cementing Volkswagen’s strong presence in the compact sedan segment and further expand the Volkswagen India family.”
For now the company has released only petrol variant in three option – Trending, Comfortline and Highline

It is expected that the company will unveil a diesel varient of this model soon.
Interior Design
This vehicles is powered by 1.2-litre MPI three-cylinder petrol engine. This engine is capable of 74bhp and 110Nm of peak torque. It is built with 5-speed manual gearbox.
Its features includes touchscreen multimedia music system with mirror link, iPod connectivity, auto-AC, tilt and telescopic steering wheel.
Safety
The company has said that I would set a record in safety for its Ameo vehicle, driver and passengers airbags, rear view camera with parking sensors.
Exterior Design
Volkswagen Ameo is designed to look alike Volkswagen Polo with hatchback.
This car gets many new styling features like – projecting headlamps, new front bumper, fog lamps, and allow wheels. It also features a cruise control, rain sensing vipers, anti-pinch power windows, front arm rest and corner lights.
